Britannia parking fine

Hi all
I had a fine come through the post a while back where I had overstayed a ‘free 3 hour car park’ by 10 mins. They sent me the fine with pictures of my car and number plate and times coming and going.
I tried to appeal this and they didn’t accept the appeal.

Yesterday I received a letter from a legal company that BRITANIA PARKING had passed the fine onto.

The fine is £100 and they have added on an extra £60 now to cover ‘legal’ fees.

I was told that because I had appealed the ticket I had in a way promised to pay them.

Is this true? I’m so confused by it all, please can someone help!!

There was no fine, it was an invoice

If you appealed and they rejected it, was a popla code issued ?

If yes, did you appeal to popla ? If you didn't appeal to popla with the popla code , why not ?

Have you read this? That extra £60 could get them in trouble

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Have you read the NEWBIES thread (one click back third thread down).

This will help you understand the game you are now caught up in.

The quickest way to get this cancelled is with a landowner complaint starting with the store manager if a retail park then if no help the CEO.

Make sure you have photos of the signs as these form the contract they claim you have agreed to.

So far have you just sent the initial appeal and received a POPLA code or have you a county court claim ?

If a court claim then post the date of issue.
