def on BG home energy fixed till march 2021 tariff, am quite surprised BG agents didnt spot cheaper tariffs but yeah looks like that Energy plus protection green aug 2020v2 is good.

Ok thanks for all the help gonna see about switching and dig further into comparisons and will check for any exit fees, have also reduced my boiler temps see if it helps a bit more.

It would be a good idea for you to try out some energy saving ideas. You have established that you are not on the best tarif but at the same time your energy useage is really on the high side as well.

We are in a three bed detached and our current spend is about £1 per day which includes both gas and electric (5kwh on electric and 1kwh gas). There are two of us in the house so your spend will be higher with the four of you but you wouldn't expect it to be 3 times as much or more.

Thanks for your pricing info, £1 per day sounds excellent ill have a recheck of everything, we do use the washing machine and oven daily though, during summer ie now our ch is usually switched off just hw is set for 4hrs per day for some warm water.

But during summer we run the fans on daily almost due to heat (recently switched off).

Maybe also the tariff can effect the bill cost also.

£1 is our average. There are obvious spikes on our energy useage graphs when we have used the washer/dryer which is usually two or three times a week.

Four hours for hot water seems OTT. There is probably a saving to be made there.

We have a combi at the moment so it only makes hot water on demand, but we did have a seperate hot water tank in the last house and only heated the water for an hour in the morning.

Thanks good to have second confirmation on £1 roughly per day, yes we have a water tank in loft and water immersion tank in one of the rooms. I will check into that since 4hrs has been the norm our end, maybe it does need reducing but the 4hrs of hw comes on on 4 different times during the day and allows 1-2 family members to bath also.

Maybe can fine tune it and knock off 30 mins on each session and see how it goes.

I am going to also go round the house and re-check all electrical items and gas items with the smart meter and see whats zapping it, I noticed my fridge freezer is energy rating E also.
