Thanks to everyone for the replies ... the front door lock has been fixed and a kick will no longer spring the lock. But can a householder demand that such people leave? If they refuse to leave will the police then attend?

I came back early morning once from a club and there was a middle aged well dressed woman sitting on the stairs, I was quite surprised and was to bongoed to say anything. A few weeks later she was back again and it turned out she was spending a night in each of the nine blocks, even if I hadn't seen her I knew she had been due to a faint whiff of lavender. The managing agents then installed entry hones and locking doors and she was never seen or smelt again.

Trespassing on private property. The local police might attend if they have officers available. Dial 101 not 999.
