in Credit cards
I recently applied for a 0% card from Capital One. I have a resonable credit scoring, but the application was rejected. Since then I've been getting letters saying I've been pre-approved (I feel so privileged!) for one of their cards - with a 34% interest rate  ! I'm going to be sending the one I had yesterday back with a letter thanking them for the offer but to take a long jump off a short pier, as I've since got the deal I wanted from another company....

I wouldn't bother. Nobody will read your letter. You are on their database because of your application.
If you really want to annoy them fill in the application with made up information to waste their time.0 -
Sounds like a plan......0

...if you never want to apply for a Capital One Credit Card again. Do you not think that your application (with or without made-up data) will not be traced back to you through a code on the letter (application number?)
...Also completing application forms with made up data will waste their time and in turn annoy them as you have wasted their money...as such future offers will be affected won't they? Meaning potentially higher interest rates, fees to cover the costs incurred by stupid applications.
So, if you don't want a credit card again, fill it in as Mickey Mouse...otherwise don't bother in my opinion.

To get off the database, send it back = please be advised of my "new" address"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Surprise surprise i was also rejected by capital one and offered an inferior card and once again the reason based on credit rating in which i am a bit surprised.
I have two credit cards one around £200 which is going to be paid off today and a 0% intrest card for around £4000 which finishes at the end of the year and that is what i was hoping to balance over, i am in a position to pay both of the cards off but was hoping to get a longer balance transfer on the £4000
I am not sure which is the best way to go, try for another transfer obviously with a % fee included and pay about half of the £4000 and keep some of my savings or pay the whole lot off and then try for another new credit card any advice?Keep right on :T :beer:0 -
Or just send it back and ask to be removed from the database. they're not supposed to send junk mail once you've asked them to stop.
That may be what they are supposed to do, but in my experience this is not what happens and they seem to take little notice of the mail preference service. I have found a change of address is an effective way to get rid of persistent junk mail"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I've applied with made up details, then got accepted later by the same card. Don't think they're that fussy sometimes.0
