Actually as of right now I cannot add it to the basket !♀️

But as I said, it was not showing as out of stock and allowed me to add it to my basket.

It is out of stock at Dunelm.

    I'm not contradicting myself.

I have spoken to the price match team. I thought is explained this originally but I hadn't, the error in the price match was BECAUSE the Dunelm website allowed customers to add the item to their basket, so JL were unaware it was out of STOCK at the time (as was I). But it apparently was.

    Ah that makes total sense.

So John Lewis were correct in giving you the price match but subsequently found out that it was OOS so retracted the price match.

Basically it was an error on Dunelms website and once corrected JL price match would of been obsolete.

Basically you have to put that down to experience I am afraid.

I get it now, it was out of stock so the Price Match didn't apply.

Clunky Dunelm website seems more to blame than JL in this instance.

As you acted in good faith, perhaps you could try and negotiate a concession on the return fee?
