Cheap Energy Club giving erroneous information

It says "Important: Avro Energy has recently had a new customer ban lifted by regulator Ofgem. We’re keeping an eye on the supplier and will update you if there are other issues."
So it sounds like they took on too many customers and the service suffered as a result.
Old news, I'm afraid.
Avro voluntarily offered to impose a new sales ban, not because they could not cater for their existing customers, but because they were late implementing the necessary systems to support smart metering.
The ban has since been lifted

I think the issues between MSE and Avro are as EnergyRookie explained - Avro were slow paying MSE their referral monies for the collective switch, and MSE threw their teddy out of the pram as a result.
Can't see why else MSE thinks they do not have enough feedback to rate this supplier when :
a) they previously claimed they were top rated
b) there is over 1000 replies in the Avro feedback thread alone

EnergyHelpline rates Avro 4 out of 5 stars
uSwitch rates Avro as 4.5 out of 5

This explains why CEC is worthless to me too. It tells me that I'm paying £1450/year with Bulb when by my own calculations I'm paying nearer £1150 - so less than the 'cheapest' alternative CEC is offering.
My calculations aren't using MSE's numbers for the same Vari-Fair tariff that I'm on, and I'm not paying the same numbers as doveman - I'm paying a lower standing charge, a higher rate for peak hours electricity and a lower rate for gas.
(Link deleted because apparently my decade old account is a 'new user' that isn't allowed to post links, so you'll just have to trust me) shows the rates quoted in my July statement.
So basically, I'm going to delete my CEC account. It's not only worthless, it's actually going to cost me money if I switch to a more expensive provider, but basically I just can't trust it. All that spam for nothing.0 -
I too am confused by the Energy Club.
I'm constantly receiving emails telling me I can save £270 per year.
I'm with British Gas on the much vilified Standard Safeguard tariff and currently pay £90.67 per month for dual. My usage last year was 3054kw elec and 17905kw gas.
Frequent mails from CEC tell me that I can £270 per year and my payments will be £91 per month. That is what I'm paying now and have been for as long as I remember. So how can I save £270 per year?
My current payment plan tells me I am on target with the DD although Elec balance seems to be slipping a little.0 -

You probably can save £270 per year, if not more compared to a suppliers standard variable tariff.
Compare the annual cost of what you will use, not what you are paying monthly by direct debit; the details are given on the MSE CEC.
What you pay monthly may have little bearing to what you will end up being billed.
Edit: You don't mention your supply region, but as an example, someone living in the London supply region could save over £350 for your usage.
In fact you could save £227 per year just by applying for a cheaper tariff from BG (although I think you need to apply for that through a comparison site such as the MSE CEC, and then you will get cashback from MSE too! :money:)
The exact costs & savings will vary by supply region.0 -

So what you are saying is Energy Club savings are correct at £270 but the monthly payment quoted is wrong and I am to disregard that part of the quote?
I would need some sort of explanation before I opted for that.

I thought I had better clarify my situation in fairness to the Energy Club.
Having created my own comparison and analysis, my confusion is caused as stated above, by my present supplier BG not setting the correct monthly payments. It seems I am underpaying by around £30 per month despite BG telling me I am on course with my DD.
I'm surprised at this because they are normally on the ball with updating the DD.
So thanks for the enlightening comments.0
