I had a Bear Stearns mortgage on a previous property ( 2 moves ago) and am without paperwork for it, pretty sure I had what was termed 'obligatory'insurance against sickness and unemployment at the time, but am unsure if any claim via hp Morgan chase would be successful, anyone have any experience with that?

If the insurance was compulsory then it was not missold. Its only when you are told it was compulsory when it wasn't that it is missold.
WHo arranged this mortgage? Was it an estate agent, broker/adviser or did you go to branch of Bear Stearns?
When was this? (before or after 14th January 2005)0 -
Adviser/broker during a remortgage from original n and p mortgage, was sold as an optional extra but had to be in place despite my employer having 6 months full pay with 6 months half pay following that for being off sick for prolonged periods. Without paperwork would say was circa 2003 mortgage took out and repaid circa 2007 when last move took place.0

If it was sold by an independent broker prior to 2005 it's pre-regulation of general insurance sales and the broker won't have to even consider your complaint.0

Thanks for the input.

As mentioned, this is dead in the water as its pre-regulation of brokers.
However, if it makes you feel any better, the FOS have been rejecting MPPI complaints when people have 12 months sick pay. Its a good reason for loan and credit card PPI but not for MPPI.0
