O/S Daily Wednesday 7 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy dull start to the day here, looks like we've had some rain overnight but not much - forecast is a mixture of sun, showers and longer spells of rain. Still feels humid here too.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok. Possibly getting to spend some time with him over the next few days, have to see how plans work out.

Dinner last night was LO's from roast, not sure about tonight, but I'll be able to find something.

Yesterday work was busy, so the day flew past quite quickly. Working at my normal office today then on days' off until Monday.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.

My husband and son will be out for the day, I have a work meeting via SKYPE and I'm not confident about SKYPE but I hope to become more so.

After that, the rest of the day is my own, I might make some bread.

I do need to do some housework, the last couple of days have been taken up with actual work.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

    Good morning folks.

Yesterday was fairly uneventful. Got DM's meds and had a short walk. Once again the rain came in brief but intense bouts.

This morning I've got a shopping delivery coming with all the heavy stuff like bottles of fizzy water for DM. My dodgy knee and even dodgier hip really don't like climbing the stairs to DM's flat whilst carrying heavy stuff.

DM is spending more time awake and dressed. I suspect that the anti-depressants were making her more dozy than normal. She's not much more mobile though is trying hard. Today I've got a new TV being delivered for her bedroom. The small one there is not sufficient anymore as her sight is getting worse, she's struggling to read the subtitles now.

Apart from putting away the shopping and setting up the new TV my day will be quiet - I hope!

Thinking of all those struggling, TAFF and her father especially.

    Happy Wednesday to all.

    Morning all

Nice day here again but we are to be battered with storms on Friday apparently, that's something to look forward to !

TA my socks arrives yesterday (I bought them through Amazon Prime so next day delivery) I wore them for a few hours last night and I do have to say they did ease the pain quite considerably , the real test will be today at work when I am standing all day, fingers crossed !! x

Im going to make a fake away pizza tonight out of the Pinch of Nom book its made on a tortilla wrap instead of a pizza base and is low calorie so I am looking forward to that.

Will have a sweep through downstairs tonight and put a wash on which can go on the airer overnight.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Another sunny day here but like redruby we have storms forecast for later in the week.

Not much happening, have seen DS and DGS for a few weeks.
Today we need to go shopping for a few bits, mainly fruit and salad.

Thoughts are with all those finding life difficult at the moment, special thoughts with taff and here Dad, Holly and Poppy.
Also thinking of our absent friends
    Take care

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

I've not posted for a while as life got in the way.

Steve has a fasting blood test this morning so no cuppa for him he's like a bear with a sore head without his tea.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. DH has just left to pick up DD and dgs by taxi. They are heading for the 8.30 Megabus to Victoria. 1pm appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital for dgs. It will be a long day.

I shall be pottering about here. No real plans but will try out a new recipe.
RR glad the socks are working. AOD good luck with Skype.

Well have a good day folks. Hugs and spoons all round.

  • Morning folks and GRRRRR my lappie is playing silly beggars this morning and threw me off when I "posted" my waffle and lost it all. I think it is living on borrowed time now so may have to splash out a replacement.

Lovely day yesterday. Morning with my friend for our usual coffees and a light lunch to leave room for my carvery at tea time to celebrate DGD's 9th birthday. Lovely meal and the lemon tart with raspberry coulis and cream I had for pud was just delicious.

Mundane jobs to do today, including making a start on cleaning the windows inside, The DGDs are here for tea and sleepover and as they are not here tomorrow night the Thursday pasta bake has been requested nicely for today instead! Mince left defrosting o/n so will get the Bolognese going shortly.

REDRUBY it sounds a promising start with the sock soothers. I told my friend yesterday I had recommended them and she said to add that she finds changing to Hotter shoes has helped too. But like Fitflops they don't come cheap!

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Thinking of our absent friends. TAFF I hope yesterday went as well as it could. GERS I know just how you feel, carrying heavy loads plays havoc with my knees and hips too. Take care all xx

  • Bright morning, coffee at the little chapel this morning, I am to receive a birthday cake apparently!!

Usual mundane week, not much to post about. OH saw the consultant about his hand, Carpel Tunnel confirmed he has to get a blood test and then he will get an appointment for it to be done under local anaesthetic. It will not be done until after we have been on holiday in late September.

Drs yesterday yet another UTI, at least its been 6 months since the last attack. I have also got pain killers for my back. After several attacks of AF the GP has put OH back on the medication they stopped whilst he was in hospital. So a good result all round.

Taken chicken out of the freezer for supper.

    Morning all,
Our area had problems with internet connection yesterday so no posting & DS couldn't do any work.He messed about with his car,I set up the sewing machine to do some alterations and our NDNeighbour and son took their dog on a long walk and then went out!

Actually I went out later as DGD rang me- she was bored ,could we go swimming? It took me a while to find my cossie,I haven't used it since we were away last autumn!.DS ran us there, and the receptionist said it was adults only until 1.30 ( it was then just before 12) so quickly rang DS before he got too far.We called for some pasties and took them home ,then set off again later and we both enjoyed it.Caught a bus back, bit of a walk to get home but doable,DGD only complained near home but her shoes were rubbing. I have to pick DGS up from football this afternoon and they'll both be here for tea.DS is meant to be going camping this weekend with them, along with a few other Dads but is keeping an eye on the weather.
Dentist for a check up in an hour,I'd better go and get ready.I've got some flat iron steak out for tea, that'll give my new hob a good test- DH fitted a new one on Monday, the old induction was faulty I think ,didnt seem hot enough to sear meat and I've been moaning about it for ages :o I got DH to brave !kea on Sunday as one of theirs was in the top 5 reviews ( he says he's never going again! :D)
Anyway, better be off, have a good day all and Happy Birthday Csarina-enjoy your cake:bdaycake:

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright morning after yesterday's rain. The grandchildren arrived earlier than expected so it was a bit of a rush to get up and dressed. Hopefully it will stay dry so they can go to the park later on.

Need some breakfast in a minute, thinking bacon bagel and a cup of tea. I want to make a chicken and bacon dish for tea though so must save some for that.

I don't have too much more planned for today. My mental health worker is coming to see me this afternoon and my grand daughter wants me to teach her how to cross stitch so that will be fun.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

P.S. Happy Birthday csarina, hope it is a good one and you enjoy your cake xx
