Travel insurance - changing provider

As I write this I think it could be a bit of a silly question, but I have a little bit of doubt in my mind so just wanted to double check!

I have travel insurance with John Lewis. It ends on something like the 30th September and as they are no longer providing travel insurance I can't renew. So, I'll need to get insurance from another provider.

Would there be any issue if I booked transport now for a holiday in mid October and then needed to make a claim associated with that transport via the new insuarance provider? i.e. does it matter who you were covered by when something was booked, or just who you are covered by when/if something happens?

I feel like it should be fine as otherwise changing insurance provider could cause all sorts of problems for everyone, but would be great if someone could confirm!
