Using Surround Sound in a Terrace Houses

  • It really does depend... I live in a late 1800's terraced house and never ever hear the neighbours, at all - one one side they have a baby and from inside the house I haven't ever heard him cry. In a previous life, I lived in a 1930s terrace and you could hear every single thing the neighbours did.

I’d like to buy a surround sound cinema system and I’m wondering how to use this in a terraced house.
If you're buying it for more noise and more bass then you should look for a detached house.
  • That's nice for you, but some of us live in terraced houses where both walls in the living room are adjoining. I also have a surround sound (improves the sound, clue is in the title) and no issues with the neighbours.

What's nice for me? I live in an apartment at the moment - I have people above and below me and wouldn't dream of doing what you do. I know what surround sound is. It doesn't improve the sound for me (or my neighbours if they had to listen to it thudding) - I hate it. So the clue isn't in the title, it's subjective. You probably can't hear your neighbours complaining to be honest. Too much noise.
