  • We went to Middlesbrough on saturday for a scan and wandered into a shopping centre. The road to the shopping centre was almost completely shops of the nature of Brighthouse, cash converters, a sell-your-gold-for-cash place - obviously taking full advantage of the poverty in the area. And what's worse -the shops were very busy and there were sales people outside the shops encouraging people in with their "deals".

I'm sick of loans.co.uk sending me junk mail more than 3 times a week!!!!
    In debt no more!
  • I was talking to a woman yesterday who works for Christians Against Poverty and she said that the Picture loan advert (the one with the dad tripping over the scooter) had been pulled for trivialising taking out large secured loans at high interest rates, or something like that anyway.

thank god, cause between that idiot and "Mike" and his clan at Picture finance, my t.v was going to get a kicking and thats another expense i can do without! lol

Whislt I was in the 6th form at school, ok I was working but earning about 300 pounds a month, I was pestered by some finance company telling me I had been preapproved for a new build 3 or 4 bed property costing about 250k! I have no idea how they got hold of my name, address or phone number but apparently it would have been "the home of my dreams" I have often wondered what would have happened had I actually filled any of the forms in.

Also, the episode of the Simpsons where Bart gets credit in his dogs name. I have often wanted to see if I could get my hamster a credit card!

Methinks if you are too stupid to know if it is thundering outside your house or not, you shouldn't be allowed to take out a loan with anyone!

And why is his wife filming him? (Evidence that he refused PPI possibly??)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: maybe she has just purchased it from Brighthouse?!

A mate of mine once got into the magazine 'Loaded' by getting a Boots card in the name of one of their comic strip characters.

It wasn't even subtle!!! Mr O. Fficepest!

My bank keeps sending me details of 'special' loans with 'personal' interest rates because they 'value' me.

    Yes, right!

These special rates are soooo special they actually higher than the bog standard rates other (highly safe) lenders offer on-line. Maybe my bank are trying to get rid of me?

And as for that bl**dy Carol Vorderman.... don't know if her ads are still on but she lost a lot of kudos by doing those.

I know, she went downhill in my estimations after that one! Now she is advertising Farmfoods of all places (and yes, i do shop there, so i'm allowed to slag it off!) I mean, "even if you consolidate your loans to within 4 times the equity of your house, it's okay cause you can buy cheap fozen black forest gateux!"

Do you think she was trying to prove something by the juxtaposition?

  • Sadly yet ANOTHER 2 Britehouse wannabe's have opened in Liverpool city centre. Amazingly in the same precinct as the original rip off merchants! Sadly people are flocking into these shops, along with the multitude of Cashconverters. I would love to TNT these shops.
