Pension Credit Changes

If you turn 65 beginning May but don't receive state pension till November and are in a mixed age couple is my partner entitled to pension credit? He has already applied 4 early for his state pension and applied 2 weeks ago. I keep reading you have until 13 August to claim pension credit and when we contact places for advice including Citizens Advice no one seems to know if he is allowed it and keep saying its complicated. At the moment we receive esa and carers allowance and he also receives pip high rate mobility and middle care.

It's not the date he turned 65 it's the date he becomes eligible to claim state pension. If he cant claim
his state pension until November then he cant claim pension credits, I think the cut off date for claiming pension credits is 13th August.
We are in the same situation as you, my husband reaches state pension age in November and I am 9 years younger so cant claim pension credits until I reach pension age.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will correct me if I'm wrong.0 -
Absolutely appalling to punish the older partner. If entitled to UC I'd imagine it to be tiny amount.0

Even then you can only apply up to 13th August if you reached state pension before 15th May. This is because Pension Credit can be backdated 3 months.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
beth222 has your husband had a pension forecast, mine did and it states he will get approximately £164 weekly, cant remember the exact amount.
At present he is on ESA support group and pip enhanced for both, I claim carers allowance. I 'think's once he reaches state pension age his ESA will stop and his state pension will start. Housing benefit wiill then be terminated and me, as the younger partner will have to claim universal credit for housing costs.
The problem is you cant put your details into any of the benefit check sites because its only giving the situation as it is now not how it is going to be in November.0
