Possible PPI with Vauxhall Finance

Hi
I have contacted Vauxhall Finance re a loan that was taken out in 1997 as I didn't have any paperwork. They have located the finance agreement details and the agreement number.
I am sure I was sold this loan with PPI and told I couldn't have the finance without it but Vauxhall Finance have said 'We can confirm that payment protection insurance was not incorporated within the agreement'
Should I pursue it further or am I just being suspicious that they are not being truthful?
Thanks

Do you have documentary evidence from your own archive which contradicts what you have been informed? If not, I don't see how you can proceed any further...0 -

Why would they hide it?
Can you trust your memory of 22 years?
You are lucky that they held records going that far back and even if you did submit a claim, unfortunately your reason would be extremely weak to say the least, with no documentation to back up your claimI work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -

Does it really matter?
This is a 1997 sale and the car dealers were not regulated until January 2005.
However, even if the car dealer decided to volunteer to look at it, the evidence suggests there is no PPI. The OP just has an, apparently wrong, opinion. Decisions are not made on wrong opinions.Should I pursue it further or am I just being suspicious that they are not being truthful?
1) pre-regulation
2) no evidence0 -
It is of course perfectly possible the OP had stand alone PPI sold by the dealer rather than as part of the finance agreement. Still be pre regulation of course but might explain why Vauxhall Finance are saying no PPI on the agreement.0

Probably better for him to assume that he didn't have PPI at all...0
