in Credit cards
I read here and there that this card has 0% foreign transaction fees.
But when I click through the link to the barclaycard site and dig deep into the T&C's it says "One or more of the following may apply Non Sterling Transaction Fee: 2.99% of transaction (no minimum)"
But lots of comparison sites list this as a "travel" credit card.
Im confused.

That caveat does not apply to that card before the 31st of August 20230

The "Plus" version fo the card used to offer free overseas purchases and cash withdrawals.
The current non "Plus" iteration does not.
Already discussed at length here with clarifications on the wordings: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6018766/barclaycard-cans-free-overseas-spending-on-top-pick-platinum-cashback-plus-card-mse-news&highlight=barclaycard0 -

I mean, I'm not financially illiterate , it's a bit ridiculous having a financial product where there is ambiguity about the most basic of fees and charges! :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Well that's a bit ambiguous to say the least. For when I click this link (which clearly says plus). It takes me to the "non-plus" but otherwise identical looking cards page to apply. And only careful checking will show you arent getting the plus at all.
tut tut.
Also, as a side issue, what is the point of this card now? The cashback is 1/4 of Tandem and 1/2 that of Aqua, both which offer 0% foreign transaction fees. Where this doesn't. Why would anyone go for the barclaycard now? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Some people have a dislike for Tandem
You may also be more likely to get a higher limit with Barclaycard, plus regular limit reviews which Tandem don't offer and Aqua aren't as generous0 -

I don't dislike them per-say. Just wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them. Certainly wouldn't want a financial association with them from what I have experienced and read. Cowboys.
Alas I digress, on paper, the Barclaycard offering is very poor compared to both Aqua and Tandem. Despite my feelings on the latter. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yep, you need to pay attention;0 -
Indeed - but I wouldn't be surprised if we see the likes or Aqua and Tandem reducing their cashback offerings anytime soon.
Amex is obviously the best bet - and I rarely nowadays have to break out an alternate card to use since everywhere I usually shop accepts them0
