NHS Optical Voucher A+A/E

I have a voucher A+A/E which is intended for a pair of reading glasses and a pair of distance glasses or one pair of bifocals/varifocals.
I don’t really need the reading glasses and would ideally like to get 2 pairs of distance glasses. Can I do this or must they be 1 x distance and 1 x reading?

Its usually one of each or one or the other, your optician will advise

I'm sure Specsavers would be able to wangle you 2 pairs of distance glasses.

I believe your voucher will be for exactly what your optician prescribed...readers & distance ...or bi/varifocals.....

My own prescription is similar...

I go to Boots and I get the distance and readers with my voucher (they DO have some styles that are completely covered price-wise by the voucher, I choose to pay a small top-up and choose a 'nicer' frame!)….they then offer extra pair for half-price for the next few months...so you could get a second pair of distance glasses for half-price.

I would just point out that if your optician has recommended readers, you might just like to try them!...I was certain I didn't need them, but got a pair...and the difference is so much more than I expected...they are for any close work - not just reading and bring things into clearer focus.
