Just applied for a Curve Card

Applied for a new Curve card a short while ago and added a credit card to it for authorisation. I added my Capital One Credit card,

I know that Curve charge a pre-authorisation to the card but I have 4 of them for £1 each.

First one says CRV*Card Verification £1.00
Then there are 3 others saying CRV* London £1.00

Not too worried, but does anyone think it is odd that it has generated that many pre-authorisations?

Just seems strange. I have never had so many generated for the same thing before. Hope I have not made a mistake applying for this card. :(
  • No I remember mine doing it as well with a card - don't think it was Cap1, but either way nothing was charged and all pending transactions disappeared with no charge

.......And all the pending payment have disappeared already and nothing charged to card. Normally, I would expect pending payments to sit around for a few days before they are claimed or just drop off.

That's because most retailers are too lazy to do reversals. It's far easier to do nothing and potentially inconvenience the customer.

The main reason for a Curve card is that I need to carry it with me when I go swimming (onto other places right after), and I have never been comfortable leaving credit cards in lockers etc. as if they are stolen, someone could have run up quite a lot of small transactions using the contactless function.
I did think that freezing the card when left in those circumstances would freeze everything, but after a bit of research I now know that contactless payments could still go through.
So I was thinking about freezing it and having it set to curve cash card. If they are able to get a few quid that is stored there and not on one of the linked cards it won't be too much of a loss.

Am I right in thinking that setting the curve card to 'curve cash' will be an effective way of rendering the card virtually useless to a thief if it were stolen from a locker?

Having said that, I have been leaving a credit card in my locker for the last 4 years and nothing has happened. I just want to improve on that before my luck runs out. :)

Wow Nicholas. That's an impressive level of paranoia!! Just out whatever cards you want in your locker and enjoy your life. If (in the very unlikely event) they get stolen. Just inform the card company and you will get any stolen monies back / transactions cancelled.

i read it and went to the wesbite but it looks like one of those companies that are clever with their marketing and dont explain much

As far as i can see its a card which links all your bank accounts into one. That is all i can gather

How safe is it? i dont no. Do the banks have information about all your other accounts? I dont no
What if ur curve account gets hacked lost or stolen - is all ur money at risk?
