Velux installation

Hi All,


Looking to get some ideas on how much it will cost or how much people have paid for velux windows to be installed?


I require a two 78 x 55 windows in the bedroom with the twin flashing kit as they'll be going side by side for the bedroom and another 78 x 55 for the bathroom.


Standard roof and tiles. Has anyone had velux installed to give me some ideas?


Also would I save money on buying the windows and kit myself and just getting someone to fit?

I'd recommend roofing superstore for your velux windows. They have a live chat which is helpful and they will get your the correct window and flashing kit for each. They price match if asked nicely.
Also worth noting that velux sometimes have points you can collect for each velux window you buy.

There is cheaper alternatives to velux, so depends on whether you want the brand name and perceived quality of velux.

If you are competent with some basic tools it's easy to do yourself and is all done from inside the loft, with no need to go out on the roof.
There is excellent you tube videos available and a couple of them are veluxs own installation guides.

A competent local joiner that has some basics roofing skills to trim tiles or slates should be able to do the job.

Remember though that any joists cut to accommodate the window will need to be braced with double or triple new joists where you have cut through. Check building regs for exact description.
