Nationwide or revolt?

Hi I'm going to Canada soon. I used to use revolt for European city breaks and then couldn't be dealing with topping up via app, etc, so went back to nationwide flex account for any (rare) withdrawal and nationwide select credit for purchases which are paid off when home.

Is it best to use the cards in Canada?

I'll take out some CAD cash before I go, approx $50-100.

If you cannot be bothered with Revolut, what's the question?

    SELECT for deposits, petrol etc

Just back from Canada, used Starling all the way. Worked really well, the only issue we had was at a restaurant but that was because they treated it as an American card - swiped through reader rather than chip and pin

I love the fact you get an instant spending update on the app so you can see roughly how much it's cost you.

You get the MasterCard day rate as per Halifax etc

  • It's like revolt? Don't mind using revolt if I need to. Will revolt still work cheaper than my nationwide cards?

Was in Canada a few months ago and used the nationwide credit card for most purchases. Cards are accepted is most places. Also took some cash for tip etc. As mentioned I always take a few different card just incase one gets blocked or lost.

If you can't be bothered to utilise an app to add funds, or even, apparently, take the trouble to spell the name properly, I suggest you don't use Revolut as any mistake or lack of understanding how it works can lead to significant problems.
    Evolution, not revolution

I was recently in Spain and used Starling for the first time - previously Halifax Clarity was my main card but now it's my backup and used for flights/hotels - and was impressed with how well it worked especially with instant updates in the app.

The only problem I had is that after one meal I fell for the old DCC currency switch-aroo but that was nothing to do with the card and was all down to me not paying enough attention. Annoying but the difference was less than pound so not the end of the world.
  • Never did I suggest taking just one card
