Starling Bank - Business Accounts

Anyone have experience of Starling Bank and specifically their Business Accounts?

Looking for a new business (sole trader current account) and tempted by their offering. I understand that they do not have branches etc. and cash needs to go through the Post Office etc. I am happy with no branches as my personal current account is the same and never caused me an issue.

I have a Starling account and opened one of their business accounts too.

Their accounts are very easy to use and I love the immediate notifications.

What attracted me was that the business account is in the name of my business but doesn't cost.

I pay money into a personal bank account and then transfer it to Starling.

Would have no hesitation recommending for any company that doesn't deal with cash regularly.
It's free, and they lift all the info directly from CH (including any updates e.g address after the account is open).


I didn't have to prove anything or submit myself to any credit searches as a director (I don't have a personal account with Starling).


The only snag is their debit card can't be used to pay HMRC. For some reason it isn't properly recognised as the correct type of debit card; you either have to pay a hefty fee each time or use another method (bank transfer). Starlings live chat claim it's being worked on (6 months ago - but still not fixed as of my most recent HMRC payment).
