Log book never received
I purchased a second hand car from a garage. I never received the log book & the Dvla have not received any papers from the garage.
I have contacted the garage & they say its been lost in the post & I will have to pay 25 quid for a log book from the Dvla............Surely this can not be correct...........

Do you have the green "new buyers" slip? (the garage should have given you this?)0

No only a receipt......the car had a private plate, which they removed and were sorting out the paperwork.0

Ask the garage if they kept the green slip before posting the V5 to the DVLA.
If they don't have it, then a £25 fee will have to be paid to the DVLA to receive the logbook. Whether you try to get this £25 back from the garage is up to you.
If the garage had tore off the new keeper slip before posting the V5, then you wouldn't have to pay the £25.
Did you ever see the logbook? There's a chance that the previous owner/garage lost it and they're passing the fee onto you0
