connecting cable tv upstairs

I am currently thinking of having cable tv upstairs using the same box as downstairs. I have cable box(telewest) downstairs and would like to connect this upstairs. I have searched this site abd only found threads advising doing this through the AV Digi sender or any other box.
However as i have drilled a hole in the ceiling to thread through for my terrestial aerial i was wondering if i can have cable tv upstairs just by using cables to connect both tv's.
Any help will be much appreciated

You can do that no problems
You need a splitter and then connect one end to where you usually do downstairs and feed the other one upstairs.
Its best to make the split at the last point before your tv to take advantage of the VCR etc being able to be piped upstairs.
For the cable you will have to watch the same program as what the box is tuned to.
You will have no way of changing the channel from upstairs, some of the digi senders have infa red return ability to change the channel for you if you take your remote upstairs.
You will then have access to 1-5 , vcr and cable upstairs.
You would be able to watch any terrestrial channel upstairs independantly of what was on downstairs.
You may need a booster if your signal is not good.
I do the same at home and are now watching on my pc tv card, a freeview channel being fed from the freeview box in the main bedroom.

The way i would set it up is to use the telewest box scart output to feed the downstairs equipment(providing your equipment has scart or phono connectrions) and the RF output to feed the upstairs through your coax.
As far as video senders go, you may experience problems with the remote control not working through these, Telewest/Ntl boxes use non standard remote protocols and are not compatible with most video senders.0
