Taylor Wimpey Extras

Hi,
I am considering buying a new build Taylor Wimpey home. I have seen the house and spoken to the sales advisor at length, yet I still feel that I'm not being fully informed about how much the "extras" cost. I have asked several times how much things cost and they just can't give me a definitive answer. They seem to fob me off with some l rubbish about an "options meeting" once I've committed. I mean, how much are we talking about here? It has to paid externally to the mortgage, so if we are talking about 20 odd grand, I just don't have that, and they don't seem willing to tell me what we should expect until I commit to it. They even told me that "nobody ever takes the standard kitchen" I'm tempted to buck that trend.
Anyway, if anyone has any experience or advice, that would be great
Thanks in advance.

why not negotiate with them a price to include extras, if it isn't written down it didn't happen so be careful with agreeing anything verbally

Personally I avoided New builds, overpriced and poor quality and small

Ask yourself this, are you willing to trade with a company who are hiding this even when they're trying to win you over / before you have even given them any money? (I won't start on the build err, quality)

If you do go ahead, except 'extras' easier installed when put in (e.g. decent worktops), you're better off getting other things done afterwards. Every new build looks the same; even down to the same beige tiles, same handles etc and that's even with 'upgrades' to try and make yours better. Getting it done completely independantly would enable you to give yours a little individuality and make it different from the rest when it comes to sell.....

Although not Taylor Wimpey here's Persimmon's price list for extras. I would expect Taylor Wimpey to be about the same.
