Working in USA. What Criteria ??

I'm thinking of going over and working in the USA for a while, might even stay there if everything is great.

I've got family over there, but I'm not sure I want to go where they are. They live in a very quiet area where there is nothing for the kids. Everything takes hours and hours to get to.

I want to live by the coast somewhere......anyway.

Does anyone know of any website or address I can research the requirements for a permit to work, or better still...

Does anyone know for definite what you need to get my family there ??

Thanks in advance.

For starters have a look here US Embassy .

You will need to have something to offer before they will let you in. Good luck.

From what I know, if you have family there you are much more likely to get a working visa. I think it is a points system - possibly the closer the family (blood links rather than geographically!) the more points you get.

Well that rules me out :wall: .....and I've only just started !

My Uncle was a physio in the us airforce for 35 yrs.
My Aunt is in real estate.
My cousin is in the us airforce fixing computor networks for the last 17yrs.
My other cousin was a paramedic and now a police officer.

so, it looks like a different approach is needed.

Looks like you are unlucky as the advice on the US Embassy Site says:

    Family Based Immigration

Persons seeking to immigrate in one of the family based preference categories will qualify for immigrant status only if they have the necessary relationship to a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident as described below.

Note: Grandparents, aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins cannot sponsor a relative for immigration.
