SunLife insurance with Halifax mortgage via IFA

Not sure whether I am able to claim PPI. Please help, as I have been trying to find an answer on the MSE site but have failed.
I was sold SunLife Insurance to protect my Halifax mortgage in 1994 via an independent adviser. It was sold as a 'must have' and now I understand I didn't need it.
Is it worth making a PPI application to Halifax? Because the adviser was independent and not working for the Halifax, I don't imagine I can. But would be good to know for sure.
Thanks in advance,

Are you sure that is PPI? AXA sun Life are more associtated with life assurance on mortgages than PPI.Is it worth making a PPI application to Halifax?
none whatsoever. You would have just as much success complaining to Tesco about the sale of this PPI.Because the adviser was independent and not working for the Halifax, I don't imagine I can.
Correct.
On the plus side, IFAs account for under 0.5% of complaints at the FOS and the vast majority are rejected. You haven't told us your complaint reason but a) you wouldnt have access to the FOS anyway and b) its 10 years prior to regulation. So, game over.0 -
Thank you for your time. Thought this was the case.0
