IHD getting corrupted info from SM2s

I had SM2 fitted for Gas and Electricity by SMS on behalf of Co-op Energy, my supplier.

I noticed quite quickly that IHD did not seem to display correct usage - I am low user approx £600 p.a. for both. It was displaying usageof £8-10 per day.

Raised a query with Co-op and apparently there is a known issue - the reply I got was this:

"As you have an Aclara type meter, these are known to have issues with the usage and also the decimal point can be in the wrong place."

Has anybody else had this problem and was it resolved? Was the SM2 sending correct info to the supplier?

It caused me real concern and anxiety for a number of days.

The info that is sent from the meter directly to the supplier isn't always the same as that which the IHD reports to you although you'd hope that it should be.

You should check the METER not the IHD and make sure that the readings from the meters are those that are being used by the supplier by checking your on-line bills/statements.

If you put a bit of effort into checking what's going on then you'd understand how accurate the IHD is by checking it against the meter.

I dont know how your supplier provides data but in many cases the pricing info doesn't include vat, standing charges or discounts and might be fed back from the supplier's databse to the IHD rather than being locally computed it from the meter data.

When my smart meter was fitted the unit tariff was correct but the standing charge was far too high and any pricing data was a bit suspect and it stopped presenting any sort of pricing data when I ceased being their customer.

There are hundreds of tales of woe from customers who have not checked their meter or bills and expected that they are correct only to find out that the supplier hasn't actually been using the smart meter data but continued to estimate bills. However when the meter does get read a very large bill gets presented. So, even though you've got a smart meter you should still regularly check your meter readings and bills

It sounds like the difference between one and two none. The weekly, monthly readings on display's are not acurate nor gas real time.Never go by the in home display just the meter. You need to watch the tariff details again at the meter are correct. My SMETS1 meter was not programmed to charge for electricity noticing only after a fortnight afer a service call.

The inhome display is now back in the packaging for the last three months the only difference topping up is over the air instead of card/key.It is rather a pointless device once all energy saving measures are realised.
