Premier Parking -

I'm at a bit of a dead-end having read the newbie section (v. impressive efforts from you guys).

Out of nowhere received letter from a debt collector acting on behalf of premier park saying i owe PCN and its unpaid despite previous correspondence from premier parking.
I received no correspondence from them, it could easily have been chucked out to be fair we don't do mail but that's beside the point.
I made the mistake of ringing the debt collectors before reading this forum saying the above and asking for proof of the PCN letters, of which there are 3 from April, May, and June.
I then saw this forum, used advice and wrote to debt collectors to not contact me and ill be disputing the PCN. Told them if it is your client's intention to start court then to send an LBC.

That's where I'm at, a bit of a mess it seems.

I will now appeal, but the difficulty is as far as premier park are concerned I've gone over the appeals deadline and they won't let me appeal on their online portal. They have no email address on their website. I will not ring them as that will get nowhere.

How can I contact them to ask to appeal, I hear POPLA is a one-shot thing so do i use that now? At present it seems they will take it to court, they don't know i wasn't aware of the PCN's.

Many thanks, Mauricio

You are in the wait and see stage (too late to appeal)

See post #4 in the newbies thread for advice on this debt collectors stage

Ignore everything except a lbcca or court correspondence

If it comes to that then come back at that time for advice on how to deal with a Court claim

we don't do mail but that's beside the point.

From now on you should, failure so to do could land you with huge problems obtaining a mortgage, getting insurance, etc. Well over half the people who come here seeking help have ignored letters from these scammers.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Thank you for your replies on such a busy forum.

I today sent out emails of complaint to the retailers I shopped with at this location with receipts attached. This is normally something that would have been done instantly but here’s an example of it working later on if your ever in a similar situation! Thanks to the forum for the complaints advice. I received a reply hours later from Costco (bmarrow@costco.co.uk) cancelling the £160 bill!

This forum has been central to this outcome and it’s an impressive amount of work that’s gone into creating so much information to help fight these money grabbing idiots.

I was until now unaware of what has been going on, hopefully one day this will be a thing of the past.
