Ok, but it's not referenced in the explanatory notes on the ID1, which only say that the form has to be completed by a conveyancer, meaning "someone authorised under the Legal Services Act 2007" (i.e. registered in England and Wales).
Leaving aside whatever particular issues the OP has had with the solicitors they've approached, are you saying it is acceptable for any Scottish solicitor to complete the form? Do they tick "solicitor" or "lawyer practising outside the UK", and do they need to provide evidence of their registration or do you just look them up?

They would tick solicitor and provide the required details.

Although the relevant section of the Legal Services Act does not apply in Scotland, we treat all UK lawyers as conveyancers for evidence of identity purposes. Hence reference to UK on the form ID1

Yes I double checked by ringing the English Land Reg today and the lady on the phone confirmed that ANYONE legalish can do the ID1 form so managed to get a Notary Public to do this today. I have my sister ringing her lawyers to double check if i need a letter from a solicitor still (as the covering letter for the TR1 form says no and ID1 letter says yes...) and if I do shes gonna find me one that i can speak to and try and do over the phone or, worst case scenario, when I'm on my holiday next week in England . Hopefully getting this sorted step by slow step!

Incase anyone remember this and wanted an update, I had to use an English Conveyancer. We ~just~ finished this last Wednesday as Involegal (assigned legal team for Natwest on my sisters side) were absolutely atrocious, lied to my sister saying it was my sides fault when it was them holding everything back for no reason! She kept ringing them daily and rarely got through after over an hour on hold each day, and when she did get through they fobbed her off each time until she finally got someone good who was shocked how long this simple TR1 form was taking.

Was all finally done in 3 weeks. But took 3 1/2 months and I thought I was going to lose my house and my mind. The end.

    Ps Involegal are the worst.
