Hi,

I just moved into a new house. It's 5 beds plus a box room.

Should I put down 5 or 6 rooms. I have read somewhere box rooms are not considered as a bed room for insurance purposes?

What is the house classed as when bought or sold, 5 or 6 bedroom? Most insurers want to know something along the following lines (copied from Confused's help text):

"Please include rooms that were originally designed as bedrooms, even if they're now used for a different purpose (e.g. converted to a study)."

Go with that guidance and you'll be fine (check what your chosen insurer says on the subject). If still unsure, contact them to check.

Be very careful if you declare as 5 bedrooms - many insurers have that as a maximum and insurers could use it as a reason not to pay.

I agree with above answer - the problem you may find is that the comparison sites may not quote you if you have more than 5 bedrooms.
