Carpet Stain

I have a stain on the carpet that I thought was pink candle wax. Unfortunately it was caused by someone I'm no longer in touch with, so can't get more info on how it happened.

It feels rough to the touch but the method I found online of removing candle wax stains had no effect. The method I used was warm iron over kitchen towelling - idea being it melts the wax which gets absorbed into the kitchen towel. For me it didn't do a thing.

I've also tried spraying with 1001 mousse, but again no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas?

    Could it be dried blood?
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I don't think so, as doesn't that turn brown once dried? This is still pink and it's been there for weeks if not months.

Good idea! Something for a car interior stain might be a winner.

You really need to identify what the stain is before you can find out how to clean it.
You could quite easily make things worse by using the wrong cleaning product.
Could it be nail varnish ??

You are right of course, it's just it was caused by a lodger who left under a bit of a cloud and I don't really want to contact him again.

Doubt it would be nail varnish, to be honest.

I looked on Halfords website and they don't seem to do an own-brand carpet cleaner.

Could it be red wine? If it might be why not try the old remedy of pouring white wine on it!
Or, could it be a dye stain? Something left on the floor wet and the dye has transferred to the carpet.

Be careful trying different cleaners - the combined effect could bleach the carpet (been there, done that).

Still struggling to think what could have caused a pink stain. Did he have any hobbies such as painting or model making?

He burned scented candles hence my original guess of red or pink candle wax - though how what looks to be a sizeable amount ended up on the floor I have no idea.

I wouldn't have thought red wine would leave a tactile residue on the carpet ...

I'm afraid this might have turned into a "guess an unguessable stain" exercise, sorry!

I think the method I learnt for gettting candle wax off, was to iron over blotting paper. I wonder if this would get the wax hotter than ironing through a towel?
