Preventing weeds growing on block paving

As above, we spend a whole day de-weeding the block paved driveway, and it looked perfect. Now, 3 or 4 weeks later, huge weeds growing up randomly (look like dandelion type weeds, without the heads) but they grow in small isolated areas, but within 3 or 4 weeks, each one is the size of a lettuce!
Any ideas what i can put down to prevent these re-appearing? Obviously not a fan of high strength weedkiller like RoundUp etc

If you are getting weeds the block paving isn't laid correctly.
The only way to get rid is to start again, rip it out and find someone who knows what they are doing and uses the correct materials.0 -
To avoid weeds in block paving, don't use block paving.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

The man who laid our block paving used to say - show me block paving with weeds and I'll show you a lazy owner.
I'm not implying you are lazy BB as we too have weeds growing in ours, but I think they come from seeds getting into the grooves rather than weeds growing through the paving. Mind you, it depends on the state of it, there's some block paving near us that's been done horrnedously.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
As above, most weeds on block paving will just be growing in the cracks and can be easily picked out, root an all. As for the poster saying your paving isn't laid properly, they're talking nonsense, weeds will grow anywhere regardless of whether the paving is laid correctly or not.
At the end of the day you have a choice, either keep on top of them and pick them out when you see them or spray with a long lasting weed killer, such as Pathclear.0 -
Thoroughly cleaning the block paving, then brushing in kiln dried sand, and finally using a clear sealant will greatly reduce the incidence of weed growth but not totally stop it. Spraying the area with weedkiller every couple of months will only take a short time and will keep the weeds that do start to appear to a minimum.0

Cover it in salt and boiling water.0

Remove them as soon as you see them, don't let them flower. No seeds = no weeds. OK a few will blow in from around the area but as you say they are in clumps that implies most of yours have fallen into the cracks from recently removed plants which flowered and seededLove living in a village in the country side0
