    Ok let's wait and see

I’ve seen people report that it was around 2-3 weeks for a CIFAS marker to cause closure of a new account. You’ve got a while yet before being able to consider yourself safe.

You could........but they wouldn't give you any info in relation to any AML stuff.

Not really the response to give in reply when someone is trying to help you.

Yes my apologies for (again) throwing a sense of realism onto ones post so they know what to expect.

My apologies too, the real economic cost of the freeze led to an irrational response

    Few questions:

    1. If the NCA apply to extend the moratorium period via a court order would the bank account holder be informed? If so how?

    2. Can money go into a frozen bank account, if for example a customer incorrectly pays the frozen account rather than a new account you gave them?

    3. Is there a way of telling if the freeze action by the bank originated internally or was a freezing order by NCA etc.?

2, Possibly but then would be frozen like the rest of the balance. If sent by faster payment it might be bounced back.

No - they would normally only be informed of NCA involvement at the point of arrest, which could be several months later.

    2. Can money go into a frozen bank account, if for example a customer incorrectly pays the frozen account rather than a new account you gave them?

Normally it would be blocked for incoming and outgoing payments. There are still some (very rare) ways it can happen though (successful chargeback credit or debit card refund for example)

The timeline is the giveaway. If an account is frozen by more than a couple of days, then it's been reported to the NCA and in their hands.

If you read the bank's response in post #11 you would see that the bank very much can provide the OP with the reason why it has frozen the OP's account but simply chooses not to because, well, it's only a customer's livelihood it's destroying:

Sure they can, if they want to risk a conviction for tipping off, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison and an unlimited fine.

If you thought about it for more than 1 second you'd see it's pretty obvious they say "but the Bank is not obliged to enter into any discussion or provide a reason for our decision." because if they said "We're not allowed to tell you the reason why", that *in itself* would be tipping off.
