    OP: You'd be amazed how quickly it is to pick up pipe soldering after a couple of videos - assuming you don't plastic fantastic everything. Just look up a few videos of each task as you come to it.

    Not to dismiss your experience but all the rental places I've stayed in the last 20 years all used flexible pipe for tap and never had any problem. Perhaps the lesson is to get a quality make one rather than cheap one?
