Rerouting LED switches in living room

Not sure if 'energy' was the right forum for this but couldn't find more appropriate.

In our new build flat we have a single switch that switches on a set of 8 recessed LED lights in the kitchen. We want to remove one of the LEDs and use the 'point' to install a hanging pendant light in its place.

Two questions:

1. Is the above possible?
2. If the above is possible, can we re-route+split the wiring so that we can add a new switch for the new hanging light?

Its not going to work the way youre thinking it is.

Youll need to run a new set of wiring for the pendant light. And youll probably need to buy a new set or amend the set of recessed lights you have.

And as it is a kitchen, you will need to get a fully qualified electrician to do the work (or at least sign it off)

Thank you for the replies.

Was hoping to minimise callouts but looks like we'll have to get an electrician in first just to assess the job.
