Old Mortgage Possible PPI

Hello - wonder if anyone can help.
I am trying (as probably a lot of us are) to ascertain whether I had PPI on my first mortgage about 20 years ago (c. 1990 - 2002). I cannot remember who the lender was (I went through a broker at the time) and have no paperwork. I have tried looking at the Land Registry against the property but it doesn't seem to be a full record - only the current owner and first owner are listed. I am not sure where next to try - can anyone advise me.
Thank you

Look in your old bank statements to see who you were paying ?
If you had mortgage PPI, (which isn't the same as credit card PPI), what would your grounds for a misselling claim be?0 -
It's pre-regulation, so no need to spend any more effort on it.0

That was from a bank. Not a mortgage broker.
Insurance regulation started in January 2005. In 1988, when financial services regulations started (which was only covering investment class back then), the banks volunteered to consider earlier than regulation complaints. So, when insurance regulation started, the same principle was applied.
However, mortgage brokers, like IFAs, FAs, estate agents, solicitors, accountants, car dealers, retailers etc never volunteered to consider pre-regulation complaints. So, anything they put in place before 15th January 2005 does not have to be considered.
Other variations to those dates include where the seller was a member of the ABI (which mainly covers insurance companies reps but also some secured finance companies). They have to go back to the date they became members of the ABI. Mortgage brokers were not members of the ABI.
A small number of mortgage brokers subscribed to the mortgage code and they have to go back to their joining date for that. However, that came into existence on 30th April 1998. The op is talking 1990.0 -
Could this have been MIG insurance?
If so it was not there to protect you but the lender (in case of negative equity).
Personally I don't think you can make a claim on this but you need to find out exactly what it was and pronto.0
