  • No idea, never heard of them before, I spoke to a debt collection agency for advice and they gave me a number to ring, who gave me a website and agreed that I should write a complaint to BPA, BPA said they would investigate.

So you rung a debt collector and after phoning a number that they gave you, you finished up on a website.

    What website?

Have you complained to the BPA yet?
  • Hi, sorry for late reply my computer is playing up. Yes, I spoke to a debt company for advice who said there was a car parking ombudsman, I said I hadn't heard of them, he gave me a number, who put me through to someone who gave me a website to complain, the website was BPA, they agreed with what I said that Car Parking.co.uk should have responded to my letter on 29.01.19 as part of the appeals process and not simply sent it to Debt Recovery Plus. It is Deb Recovery Plus who replied to me over a month later saying that I had not appealed in time and they still wanted payment and referred it to Glastones, and now I have this letter from SCS Law, who I rang Friday and I asked them to put the case on hold as I felt it was still in dispute from January and I have complained via BPA, the woman said 'no' as Glastones have already applied to the court, and all I can do now is wait for a court date and fight it in court but there will then be added costs. I just said that I will as I can't afford to pay anyway as I am not in work.

  • Hi, I have a response from BPA,
Thank you for your email. I’m sorry it became necessary for you to write to us.
We investigate complaints about alleged non-compliance with our Code of Practice where evidence can be supplied. However, we are not set up to deal with disputes from the public about parking, nor can we cancel Parking Charge Notices.
Operators must acknowledge any appeal within 14 days and issue a full response within 35 days. You explained that you didn’t receive this. Whilst at the BPA we don’t have a way to determine if correspondence was sent or received by either party, we expect operators to be able to provide us with a timeline of events and copies of the correspondence that was sent out.
As part of our investigation, we will also be looking at the signs in place at the car park to confirm if they are compliant with our Code.
Please note, however, that the amount of the parking charge is within what is stipulated by the Code of Practice. The Code states that charges must not exceed £100; additional fees may be added to the charge if it is escalated to debt recovery.
I have contacted Anchor Security Services Ltd t/as Care Parking for their comments. Please note that it can take up to 14 days for them to investigate and respond to us.
I will be in touch with an update once I receive a response.
