We have a 1 year old who we haven't taken abroad yet, leaving it to next summer.. hopefully less stuff to carry!
Does anyone have any recommendations for a kid friendly hotel that is well catered for and good for mum and dad too?
Totally open minded, we typically like warm countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy etc, but aware that the young fella will need to be well wrapped up searing heat probably out of the question.

Id put forward the argument that its easier travelling with a baby than a toddler but doesnt matter now.
Anywhere. As long as it has a pool and serves ice cream you cant really go too far wrong.
I personally find, for child entertainment, that holiday parks a la Eurocamp (loads of different companies available) are ideal. Plenty in France if you want to drive and take loads of stuff. Theyre usuallyh on a beach/lake, have pools/swim parks, kids clubs (too young probably), snack bars, restaurants, pub, evening entertainment and most importantly a patio area for you to sit with a BBQ and a bottle of wine whilst the little un is in bed.
Our first holiday with little one was honeymoon to tenerife (we had planned bali until baby came along). Hotel wasnt great, food wasnt great but the holiday was amazing watching her experience loads of new things.0 -

Not at all! Probably would be thinking May / September, for being cooler months.Id put forward the argument that its easier travelling with a baby than a toddler but doesnt matter now.

Thats the type of thing we are after, where he can do little activities during the day but also something interesting for us all to go out and see/do things.0 -
Bella Italia campsite on Lake Garda is very child friendly - you can fly to Verona or Venice and get the train or bus easily and once you're there it's right beside the bus stop to Verona and an easy flat buggy friendly walk into town to get buses and boats all round the lake. There's kids pools, activities, an ice cream shop, on site restaurants and shop and outside of school holidays is reasonably priced for a mobile home - Eurocamp and others have all kinds of accommodation there. Weather is warmer in May/Sept. Self catering is easier with a small child because you can feed them anytime rather than having to wait until dinner time in an all inclusive type hotel."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Oh my goodness Skint_chick you have taken me back 12 years. Children were 4 and 11/2 and as a family we absolutely loved this place. Thank you for boosting my memory.
It is completely child friendly, we stayed in a two bed bungalow rather than camped. Loads to do on site but walking to the next village along the banks of Lake Garda was a daily trip. Also a boat around the lake, there is a fairground nearby but the name eludes me sorry. We took the train to Venice and visited Verona.
I can fully recommend.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
We liked Puerto Pollensa in Majorca when our 2 were younger
More recently we went to Camping Le Pianacce in Italy and that was great. We booked direct 2nd time for a better selection of accommodation0
