Debenhams - Moneyback Overprice Protection

Just had a call from Debenhams storecard type people - they are offering a moneyback deal that I seem to recall them doing a year or two ago. This is where you can claim back the difference in price on an item if you find it cheaper elsewhere and you have paid on your Debenhams card, even if it is in a sale.

Think it costs 1.5% per month of your total balance but includes payment protection. I can't seem to find any details on-line, does anyone have any info, is it worth it, what are the downsides apart from it costing you.

Not sure what the cut off period is from the original purchase, I guess it will have a finite time.

I normally research and get the cheapest anyway - but that is 'at the time' and you cannot guarantee it coming down in price.

I had this once and found it nearly impossible to claim on it. For a start, you need to find the exact same item (in the same size) and then the real fun starts. I was sent from department to department with no-one having heard of this arrangement and therefore unable to help. It ended with the suggestion that I bought the second item (!) and posted it to the insurers for them to decide whether they would refund the difference or not. Nightmare. The same policy covered damage to any item (within 100 days of purchase) and I had cause to claim on this too. A tube of tanning lotion leaked in a suitcase ruining a trenchcoat. Trying to get my money back was another nightmare with my claim form being lost and then the coat lost when I sent it to them also. Don't touch this insurance - its not worth the paper its written on!
