Just accepted for Amex card - any idea on my limit?

Hi everyone - it's my first post in the forum.

I've just been confirmed accepted for a BA Amex credit card. It's my first Amex card (I have other credit cards though).Confirmation email says I'll get a welcome pack within 10 working days etc, but not seen anything notifying me of my credit limit?

Just wondering if this is the usual course and you find out your limit when you get the card? Or if there's another method in this period for me to find out?

Would also appreciate anyone sharing who has an idea as to whereabouts their initial limit on this card tends to be.

It's hard to answer this constructively without saying 'How long is a piece of string?' - With the number of factors involved these days in credit decisions, I'm not sure there is any 'typical limit' as such any more - unless you're getting a credit builder card which is normally sub£1000 to start every time...Either give them a call to find out - or wait and see

You can phone them to find out but obviously it will be of no use to you until you have the card.

Limits vary - the minimum being £700 and the maximum being subject to status.

Thanks both; all previous credit cards I've applied for have confirmed the limit right there and then online. Perhaps this an Amex thing? I will give them a call to find out

Not desperate, just curious. It's been my first credit card where I've not got instant confirmation on my limit. That being said, I've haven't applied for too many credit cards in the past!

It is the "British Airways American Express® Credit Card", which is indeed blue.

Thank you. Isn't £1,200 the "assumed limit" for UK credit cards generally?

Called the new customer team and got my limit confirmed. They said that they just don't as a rule confirm initial limits online.

Also, 10 working days timeline in confirmation email for welcome pack is actually 3-5 working days according to the advisor I spoke with.
