Can anyone help me. I am currently with AOL on a BT phone line and want to access it from another PC in another room in my flat at the same time as another member of my family.
What exactly do i need?
I have seen a Netgear DG834G 54 Mbps wireless ADSL2+ modem firewall router with 4 port 10/100 switch (whatever that all means)
Would this be ok to buy? I just dont want to make any errors.
Do i need anything else. Would i require an adaptor? such as the Netgear WG111 wireless Mbps USB 2.0 adaptor?
Any help much appreciated.

Yes you will need a wireless ADSL router and a wifi adapter for the second PC unless it is within cable distance of the router.
The router will cost you between £15 and £60.
If the second computer is a recent laptop it may well already have a wifi device built in - otherwise you'll need a USB WIRELESS ADAPTOR 802.11g - for between £12 and £30 depending on where you buy it.
I'd use Ebay for both these items
Ask here for advice on how to connect the second computer.0 -

the 2 Wire wifi adsl modem router is fine for your needs.
£20 for the kit including cables and filters is fine.
I buy from Digidave and bid up to about £5 (plus £8 p&p)
e.g. : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wii-DS-PS3-Compatible-ADSL-Wireless-Wifi-Modem-Router_W0QQitemZ110201334448QQihZ001QQcategoryZ44997QQcmdZViewItem
but you would also need cables and filters - so not much in it.
Ask here for more info if you need it0 -

Hiya, so am I right in thinking then that providing the router is located near the PC it can be connected in the same way as a none wireless router?
Basically having upgraded our AOL package online last night they are sending out a new wireless router that is Vista compatible for a new laptop that I have purchase. Along side the laptop we wish to continue using the desktop that we also have. AOL advised that I would need to purchase a USB Wireless Adaptor for the desktop which I looked into and whilest they aren't terribly expensive, is it something that is actually required.....
I guess what I'm asking is... With a wireless router, can the router be connected directly to the desktop and still communicate wireless(ly) with the laptop.

Yes and it does not have to be near if you use a longer Ethernet cable to link the router to the PC. Most wireless routers have four Ethernet ports. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thats great, thank you for that0
