Work Bupa PMI cover

Hi,
I have BUPA pmi from work but I'm apprehensive about calling them before doing some research.
Last time I had a bad experience with them, BUPA said they would not do a procedure but I got an appointment from NHS (I went private before I got a letter from the NHS).
I used to have BUPA PMI at work but I lost cover for a few years as my made changes from auto-enroll to having to choose, so didn't realize I didn't have PMI.
Now. I have PMI since May 2019. I seem to have symptoms of Carpal tunnel syndrome, I think this condition develops over a long period of time would Bupa PMI cover this? Also, would like some information of surgery(not suggested by my GP yet) if anyone had it done before please send me a private message or point me to some community. I'm quite nervous now.
Thank you.

Why did Bupa say they wouldn’t do a procedure before.
For smaller company schemes pre existing conditions are not covered.
If you are lucky or work for a big company you might have a policy where your medical history is disregarded.
Do you have paperwork you can check? If not your HR department should be able to find out.0
