Trying to find a good quality fabric chair, my current one is giving up the ghost. It rocks slightly even though i added a bushing and the gas ram suddenly decides it wants to drop me.

Lots and lots of PU leather or bonded leather, checked used ones for sale and they often have signs of peeling.

Current chair must be about 15 years old.. So fabric again for the new one. But reviews are its so comfy or its the worst chair i have ever owned.. err which one is it?

Well had a letter from head of customer non care regarding what I would describe as the inferior quality chair. Had I known, or even been informed, the chair was soooo bad I would never have purchased it. It would appear that Debenhams give a 12/24 month guarantee on all furiture, but once that guarantee has expired its down to you, irrespective of the cost of your purchase whether it be £10 or £2500. Moral of this tale is avoid Debenhams like the plague, I know I will.

No the moral of the story is not to buy anything made with bonded leather unless you are happy with something you know is not built to last.

What companies do not leave you on your own when the guarantee has expired?
  • forgotmyname, if you're looking for an office chair fabric is 100% the way to go! Or if you fancy something a little different/vintage, check out secondhand leather office chairs - if it's bonded it won't last long enough to be secondhand without peeling and looking terrible, so you may well be able to find something nice. A new, proper leather, office chair will be a very expensive item.

My company doesn't really sell office chairs, but the one I'm currently sat on has been here for the past 8 years and will probably last another 8. I had to bolt one of the arms back on because I unwisely used it as a temporary step ladder (I fell off, so really don't do this at home kids) but it's still going strong. Commercial office furniture will last the longest and cost the least if you're buying secondhand.
Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:

The proper leather chairs tend to be on the larger side though.

Looking for a manager style but not too big and bulky and not a silly racing style one. Its for home use but will get plenty of use.

Good sturdy arms are a must and comfortable, so many look like they have sewn a single layer of bubble wrap under the material.

No, the moral of this tale is to do your research rather than blaming the retailer because you couldn't be bothered

    For what reason?

You've already been told that 3 1/2 years is a good lifespan for a bonded leather chair and even a modicum of due diligence at the time by checking online would have told you that before purchase.

I cant see any fault on Debenhams part?
