  • Evening all.
A fairly productive day here today.  I've done some prep work for a workshop I have booked and sent that off for the promo material and had made a phone call to an organisation regarding another one. The back lawn has been cut and edged and the kitchen floor swept and mopped and I've picked up friend H's dog for the weekend.  I did manage to sit out with my book for an hour this afternoon and I'm feeling pretty much on top of things at present.
I have a full morning of private work tomorrow and then I'm planning to walk the dogs and clean the car out as I have a day out planned on Saturday with friend P.
I had a fabulous conversation with GD1 today.. She's the GD who lives in America and she has confirmed that she is definitely coming home for 6 weeks in November and will be staying with me.  She has found an affordable ticket and has received a tax refund that will cover it.  I'm so looking forward to it.
So I'm off to bad shortly as I have an early start tomorrow.
    Goodnight all, sleep well

  • I had a fabulous day yesterday out with friend P.  She brought along a picnic and I drove and used my petrol then we each paid for a coffee during the day, a very acceptable deal we thought.  We went to a small sea side cove about 45 mile away which I haven't visited since a holiday with 2 small grandchildren over 20 years ago and she had never been to.  After a cloudy start, the sun came out as we walked the beach, climbed over rocks and explored a cave followed by a coffee at the youth hostel on the cliff.  We then drove to a woodland nearby and, after picnic in the car, went in search of a waterfall somebody had told friend P about.  A really beautiful walk was had and we found an outside tea garden so we just had to stop for a cuppa to revive the old bones before setting off back to the car.  Well I kept saying that it seemed longer walking back than when came but we eventually found ourselves lost in the forest, a bit like Hansel and Gretel but with no bread crumbs !!  We did find a hermitage though and a couple of "serious" walkers with sticks and maps an we eventually found that we were 4.5 miles off track.  Anyway after a bit of wandering we spotted what looked like a coupe of parked cars and scrambled up a steep bank to a track and managed to find our way back to where we needed to be.  So if anyone tells you about seeing 2 mature ladies on hands and knees (one with a wet foot from stepping in a rock pool earlier) and with bits of tree in they're hair, you'll know it was us.  We did giggle like a couple of school girls though and I did sleep like a baby last night.
I have sold my dining table and chairs today so more money for the house pot and more space made in the house. This should push me to finish painting the new (to me) table I bought off FB and recovering the chairs.  I shall put at least the table on tomorrow's list.
My son rang me to say he was taking me out for coffee in the village this morning.  I love it when I get to spend a little time n my own with him to catch up and just generally chat.  Then DD1 and her partner came over and took me out for lunch, again in the village so feeling quite blessed today.  She  reports that GD3 is settling is at university and liking it so far though I was sure she would as she was so ready to go after having a year out working in her local pub.
I am going to take the dogs out for a stroll before slicing cooked beetroot for the freezer and then I am going to finish my book, an Italian crime story.  The evenings are getting much cooler here so I'll be closing the windows this evening, Autumn is creeping in.
I hope all are well and safe, speak again soon

That sounds lovely with GD. Glad you found your way back with your friend. You were seriously off course by the sound of it. I would have needed a taxi!!

  • Trust me SH, if there ha been a forest taxi I would have taken it !!
I agree Beanie and we don't know if/when time ith family will be restricted right now so it's important to make the most of the time we have, just in case.
Well that's summer done people.  I usually try to drag out the last bit of sunshine for as long as I can but the forecast is for colder and wet weather here for the next few days so it looks more like cosying up.  I don't know what is happening but I am inundated with enquiries for private work.  I'm definitely not complaining but some serious diary planning is going on. Ican't quite believe that things are going so well so quickly.
The car went in for it's MOT and service this morning.  There is no cost for the service as I've been on a service plan which comes to an end next month but it has failed the MOT on a couple of points, one of which is expensive.  I'm going to put it on the "just for points card" which will give me around 6 wees before I have to pay it.  Thank heavens for the extra work that has come in.
Friend H's diva dog went home yesterday and Tilly is enjoying having the house to herself again.  I woke up in the early hours of the morning to see her standing at the side of the bed looking at me. I stumbled bleary eyed to open the back door for her, thinking she needed to go out but no.  When I went back to the bedroom she had jumped into my space and gone to sleep.  I won't be falling for that one tonight.
Tomorrow will entail a kitchen audit to see what I have left in and meal planning for the rest of the month.  I should only need a few items of basics on my shopping list.  I also want to do a budget check to sort out the JFP credit card payments ready for next week and to plan a couple of house purchases.  I plan to make the most of the cooler weather due to get some inside jobs out of the way and sort through my wool stash ready to start my knitting project of festive gifts.
So busy day ahead I think.
I'm off to bed shortly folks.
    Speak tomorrow
