Hi Dottles
Not sure if I've posted on here before but have enjoyed reading your thread. I am so pleased Tilly is feeling better - we have cats here and the little furry ones are our family and it is upsetting when they are poorly.
That is good news about your students and also a big complement to you for teaching them so well :T

Morning all
I've peeked through the blinds and, though it is wet, it is not raining !!
I've given the gift some thought and as Beanielou and StripeyTightsSpotty Socks say, I'm going to accept it in the spirit in which it was given. This is a friend (S) of many years who is very kind and put at the bottom of the card "I can so I do", Clearmydebts. She knows that if she had spoken to me about it I would have refused and that's why she has sent it this way. I don't know what my problem is, pride? I don't think so, probably not wanting anyone to think they have to be responsible for me. Anyway I am very grateful and will thank her properly today as we have a planned phone call.
I have the friend's (H) dog staying again for the weekend and have both of them lying on the bed with me (I crept back under the duvet to catch up with my diary),very cosy. They spend much of the time ignoring each other, Tilly would play but the other one is a bit of a diva and looks at her with disdain
I am now up to 5 NSD's so far. It would have been 6 but had to get petrol on the way home from work on Thursday and I caught up with some Christmas shopping on Friday and Saturday.
I met my eldest daughter and GD3 on Friday. We had breakfast at her house and then went for coffee at a new place where she lives and she insisted on paying to celebrate that she has a new job and starts on 25th !! Given that her old place have paid her till the end of Jan in lieu of notice and she then has redundancy money to come, it puts her in a good place financially. I'm so pleased for her.
The Lumiere on Friday night was a bit of a wash out weather wise, we were soaked. It was good though, some parts better than others, particularly the whale rising out of the river and all set to music, but really glad I went. I paid for a sandwich and coffee for both of us as my friend drove, so with park and ride I spent just under £15. Friend (P) bought us hot chocolate as we rung our coats and hair out in a caf! before setting off home.
Jobs for today include: painting some skirting boards, walking the dogs, some batch cooking for the next couple of weeks and sorting through Christmas gifts. I also need to do some marking if I'm not to fall behind.
Before all that I have a friend (A) coming over for a coffee so I'd better get some clothes on, don't want to scare the neighbours
I'm feeling very grateful for good friends and healthy dogs today
Have a good day all

Had a change of plan today. I had a message from DD2 to say M&S had 20% this weekend and today was the last day. So I hot footed down to buy my essentials (bras, pants and socks) instead of the planned trip tomorrow. All bought plus a birthday present and a Christmas present and saved £17. Win win!! On top of that I paid with my free gift card for opening my bank account so no cost to me. Very happy here. I also checked out a WH Smith gift card that's been hanging around in my purse and discovered it has £6.50 on it. I've also spotted a Waterstones one so I will check that out this week too. It all helps with the gift buying.
I'm now going to get on with some batch cooking.
speak later all

hi Dottles1, I didn't know you had a diary! Sorry to hear your dog Tilly has been poorly and glad to hear she is almost back to health. xx0

Thanks Cathybird and welcome. Yes Beanielou I am most grateful for the people in my life. I spoke with friend S yesterday and had my concerns put to rest, she just wanted to do a lovely thing for me.
It has been gloriously sunny here today so I've done a bit of garden tidying that got missed due to the rain. I still have a few plants outside that I need to think about bringing in now so will attend to them this week.
I am off to London on Friday till Monday. Tilly is going to stay with DGS and his GF where she will be spoiled and pampered. Friend P and I are going on our annual trip to stay with our London friend L. Whilst there we have booked to see the Tutankhamun Exhibition and the lights at Kew Gardens. Everything is paid for as we had to book early for both and we got cheap train fares which were further decreased using senior rail cards. Who said there is no benefit to getting older?
Needless to say, no skirting boards were painted yesterday due to trip to M&S and neither have they been done today. I seem to keep finding excuses (and they ARE excuses) not to do them. It's daft really as they won't take long and will look so much better.
I put some more items on FB an sold 2 within 20 minutes! Not a sniff at the rest though but I suppose that's how it works.
I need to do a couple of admin jobs this evening, not arduous but niggly, have a look at tomorrow's lesson plan and take friend H's dog back home. After that the evening is all mine so I will either find a film to watch or have an early night with my book. We'll see.
Hope you all have a warm and cosy evening

Evening all.
I've had a really good day at work today, it's such a long time since I've enjoyed the work so much. The group I was teaching (I'm with them all day) were great, really engaged and wanting to learn and we had a few laughs along the way.
Today has been another NSD, 6 /12 in total. I'm going to have to work hard to meet my target, especially with going away this weekend but it's not impossible so head down girl.
FB sales were collected and paid for so that's £7 for the coffers also had another Christmas present delivered, I'm getting there even if slowly. I need to take stock of what needs doing and what can wait a bit. also who still needs to be bought for. What I really need now is a spreadsheet!!
Anyway the heating is on and tea is in the oven so I'm having a break before doing some marking.
Hope you are all keeping well and warm

Yesterday work was great, not so much today. I'm on my break and on here which I never do usually do that tells you how bad it is.
However I have sold another FB item but I'm collecting a FB purchase which is for a Christmas gift (too good a bargain to miss) for the same cost this evening. I'm going to call that neutral and still claim my NSD for today.
Tea is all sorted for when I get in and I brought lunch from home again today so it will be a case of walking Tilly, eating and getting on with some marking this evening. I also need to fit in a job application for a vacancy I've seen. On paper it looks as though the job description could have been written for me. The closing deadline is midnight tomorrow so I might prioritise that as my first job.
Well I'd better get back, might pop in again later
