Injury claim (no win no fee) company charged insurance fee

My husband had an injury claim from a car accident , he went through a no win no fee company , they told him how much the fee would be if the case was won and he ‘signed’ for them to go ahead 18 months ago. He didn’t actually go forward with the claim til a few months later ,anyway ! It went to court, won, and when the money came through it was much less than agreed.
They say they took insurance out incase the case was lost and now my husband has had the premium deducted from the award which they say they can do and he signed to that effect . I’ve never heard of this ? Is there anything to be done about it ?
Thank you :-)

Next time, read what you are signing your agreement to.

All quite normal and correct. It would have been in the contract he signed. Its another reason to avoid no win no fee on things like this.

Unfortunately, this happens when you get into bed with the bottom feeders of the legal world. I am sure that this will be included somewhere in their terms and conditions so you will have no recourse. It is part of the price that you pay for not wanting to pay up front for legal representation.
