My Hermes, forged signature, no parcel.

Hi.

I was expecting a parcel from beauty bay today but had to go out.

Typically the courier came during the 30 mins I was out for the day.

The email says its been delivered and signed for with GPS showing he was at my house.

The signature is NOT mine and there is no parcel.

I've checked the bins and round the side. Nothing.

What do I do now?

WILL hermes be able to see its not my signature :(

First they will say it was delivered, then they will tell you to take the matter up with the sender. I've been there. Unless the sender refunds/replaces, you'll be facing a long, losing fight against Hermes.

These days parcel companies have no sense of responsibility and they'll dump parcels wherever is convenient. It's also quite possible the driver stole your parcel.

In my experience with this with Hermes they will typically try to deliver it the next day. Not ideal, but I've seen it more than once, once with a very valuable item.
  • Well I don't know if he stole it or if he left it some where and somebody else did but I haven't got it. I didn't sign for it. And neither did my neighbours.

I've had parcels left in my bins before. I live in a really rough area and if someone saw him leave it somewhere unsecured then chances are they took it.

    It's a LOT of money.

    I'm really worried :(
  • I spoke to hermes and they told me to contact beauty bay.

I can prove its not my signature with my debit card signature.

I just hope the driver is honest and admits no one answered the door and took it.

Driver probably got no answer, took it away to redeliver but signed for it so he/she would get paid for the delivery. (They get about 50p per parcel delivered).

Maybe the address on the parcel was wrong? "Mrs Jones?", "Yes", "Sign here".

I don't think he took it away as the emails says

Your parcel has been successfully delivered.

    And the address is right

That is actually correct. Your claim is against the sender, they may have a claim against Hermes (if they are at fault). You don't.

Our Hermes seem to ask for a signature of the sender has paid for signed delivery.

If it is not signed delivery he doesn't ask for a signature but writes the surname on the pad.
  • I had a bit of a nightmare with Hermes. My wife ordered a foldaway table (the type you see in village halls). Both my wife and I were out but got the delivered email. When i went home in my lunch break no sign of the table. Checked with neighbours... nothing.

I called Hermes explained that I have CCTV and it showed the driver walk away with the large box. It was not delivered to neighbours and they explained that the driver put it in the garden. I explained that i am a mid terraced house, the back of the garden backs on to another garden and the side access is locked from the outside nor could it be thrown over the 10ft fence. He called back the driver. He stated it was damaged but clicked delivered by accident and will return to sender.

Fortunately Amazon were good to get a replacement out straight away. The driver presumably had no disciplinary as the 'damaged' excuse was accepted.

Hermes have had a lot of bad press about things like this. Drivers not being paid enough, overworked, faked deliveries, stolen goods.
