Starling bank current account took me 5 minutes to open and I had the debit card through the post in 3 days.

I do now use Starling as my main account. But used it as a holiday account only for a few months.

When / if you want to switch your old account to them, the in app account switch is very easy.

Best way to mitigate interest is to see how much the pending transaction is for, so say it is for £300, what I would do is pay off £250ish straight away and then when it hits pay off the remainder. That way you're only paying interest for one day on £50 give or take.
    I agree with this idea.
As much as this site is about paying zero interest, the above plan would cost around 3p which isn't really worth trying to avoid.

Starling bank is interesting. Not just in terms of this holiday but for everyday use. How do people find it? Is it easy to change over to it?

I don't use it for everyday banking but I haven't had any issues trying to use them for holiday spending over the last year. They are a part of CASS so you can easily switch to them without any fuss... or switch away if you ever decide you don't like them anymore!
