How do I determine my correct wiper blade length? I need to buy new ones.

Options
Hi all

I am in need of a pair of new wiper blades for my car. My car is as follows:

Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake 2017 2.1 Diesel

So in the interests of saving money instead of buying them off Mercedes who quite frankly were extortionate my friend told me to go to a website called Euro car parts. To be fair they were really reasonable on the euro car parts website. However recently while walking round Costco I noticed they had some good brand ones for under £10. My only problem is I do not know what size they are and in Costco you need to know which exact size wiper blade you are buying

Any advice please?

You could measure your old ones or put your registration number into an online site that sells wiper blades.

next time your at Costco, slip a blade off and compare in shop.

What are the CostCo "good brand" ones?

I generally use Bosch Aeroblades. If you go to their side and tell them your car they will tell you the correct blades for your car.

I tend to end up using ebay.co.uk to buy them but there are dedicated wiper blade sites too which can be cheap. Avoid the likes of Halfrauds unless they have a stunningly good offer on.

The length of the blade is not the issue, its the fitment type for each specific car.

The online sites will tell you which blade kit to get though.

Go to europarts or gsf website and get the inches it quotes you then use those measuresment to find the costco equivalent.

If its a branded wiper like bosch, use the part number on the websites.

If only there were a magic website where you could type in a question and have it answered in a matter of seconds.

    We could call it google?

If in doubt, I have a simple method to work out what length blade to buy: I get out a ruler, and measure the old one. I have even been known to pull off the old one, and take it into the shop with me.

But don't trust those flip chart things in Halfords.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I've been using these for the last four cars I've owned including the current Mercedes.
  • Great idea. Thank you.
