Selling a house full of furniture before we move?

We're selling up our three bed house in London and renting a flat instead. I don't really have time to sell some of the furniture (wardrobes, bedframes, large mirrors, sofa etc) online individually.

Is there a way I could sell the furniture (and possibly some white goods) to someone who could buy them and transport them in bulk? Maybe a landlords' association or something like that?

Why not ask the buyer if they want the furniture ?

It doesnt take long to take photos and lost them on ebay.
  • Thank you. We have a lot of other things going - selling them individually will take up a lot of time as they would need to be picked up etc. I'll offer them to buyers though.

How about a house clearance company?

The simplest way is to call a local house clearance company - there's loads of them out there. They'll come and shift the lot for you, but don't expect too much in the way of profit. It's a bit like We Buy Any Car - it's certainly quick and simple, but you won't get anything like the price you would if you took the time and sold the stuff yourself.

Alternatively, if you're not bothered about the money, the Salvation Army will usually come and pick up furniture and the like. Obviously you won't receive any money, but it'll save you the hassle of shifting it, and you're doing a good turn in some small way :-)

As above, charity furniture shops may well take the lot.

Perhaps just put the things you think would be popular on facebook marketplace, or similar.

I've found ebay to be a disaster recently. My dining table went for £4 and I was then messed around by the buyer. I put it on facebook marketplace for £30 and it had left the building within half an hour! Might have underpriced it, but still better than waiting 7 days to get £4 and then dealing with someone who can't appreciate a bargain.

I think I'm going to do the same... I keep putting things on eBay for 99p just to get the bidding and even after winning a rather nice coffee table for that they still messed me around

I won't bother with eBay now as I have got the rest of my furniture out of storage and taking up the garage ...Off to FB :j

And my tip for gumtree etc is to have a picture of the thing but also in its "place". I noticed all of the things I was like "oh I like that" were because I could see them in the room properly and that they looked nice amongst other furniture. The exact same table sat on its own is difficult to assess for size and just harder to imagine being in your house.

Sounds very obvious but majority of the photos I have seen are just of the object with nothing else in frame, I found. Stupid when you can upload a few pictures perfectly quickly.

Unfortunately I can't do that as I downsized and it was all in storage...now in the garage :-(
