Injury at work

Yup thats average across the day i would say so 15/20 jobs will be around the 50kg mark but the remaining 5-10 jobs could be 120 kg.
The 2 days i worked which resulted in re injuring myself was for a specific order and they were all 100kg plus. Its never the same each day.0 -
I did miss this question but I am not in a union. I think I have posted so much information my employer could identify me so may as well state my issue was a torn rotary cuff. I couldn’t even lift my arm for six weeks after my op it had to be kept in a sling and couldn’t drive for that time either.
The problem is the machine loading is usually chest height.
I also thought by working in a new role which I have zero issue performing would save me from repercussions. This is the only site where physical manufacturing is conducted. I could move to one of multiple other sites if an internal position becomes available and this would be a none issue. We currently have an internal vacancy In a role I previously used to work in but it’s very high pressure with usually a high turn over so know it’s likely to have very little competition for that role.
But I do love my current position. I think it’s mad I applied for role A, secured it, left role B but then could get penalised for not doing Role AB. Even though my role B was recruited for and filled. It’s just the constant sickness means role B is always understaffed.
I have had minimal contact with Occu health nurse other than providing evidence of manual handling training and assessments being completed when others have hit the sickness threshold.
One of the chaps sacked on capability grounds who was then reinstated on appeal, because he stated his spinal injury wasn’t a permanent issue and surgery would be successful. Which has turned out to be true since his operation he has been in great health. But he was allowed his full recovery time.0 -
Looking at those weights, the 50Kg one is a 3 man lift at a minimum.
If the stock you are loading can be lifted by fork lift, then the company needs to investigate the possibility of constructing a trolley at the same height as the machine bed.
This can be loaded by flt or ohc then pushed to the machine with reduced risk of injury.0
