I use Aldermore for a business account, and find the account is fine. Having said that, you do need to remember / have note of a number of pieces of personal information in order to log into the account. I seem to remember the list of requirements for ID was quite prescriptive.
If you have to get a certified copy at the PO, its worth taking the instructions with you, so that you can let the person signing know what form of words is wanted - not every requirement will be exactly the same, and it does seem to matter to the organisation!

Your name change just a few months ago may well have triggered the request for additional ID. Other providers might ask for similar. Nothing to worry about. Just provide the info they requested if you still want the account.
  • Good morning,
Thank you for your post yesterday, I have copied your link to my favourites and will start hunting again next week.
I know the Electoral register is OK as I was allowed recently to vote in the various elections.
    Many thanks Jo

But check with them as to if you ticked that box and they are denying creditors to know if you are registered or not?

Opting out of the open register doesn't affect the ability of financial institutions to find you on the ER.
